History
The 1957 One Baht coin is a standard circulation coin minted in 1957.They were intended to decrease the cost for printing the One Baht banknotes in a foreign company(Thomas de la Rue), which quickly deteriorates. The metal prices in the world market began to decline and it was not necessary to use silver to certify a coin's value, so there were quite a lot of silver remaining. The government decided to compose 3% of the coin's weight with silver, making this the only circulating One Baht coin in king Bhumibol's reign to have silver content. These coins are released into circulation in January 28 1958 due to unstable politics.
