History
This One Baht coin is minted as a pattern coin. There was an idea to replace the One Baht banknotes to decrease the high cost that these notes were printed in the United Kingdom in addition to the shipping, which are often delayed. The idea didn't succeed because the One Baht banknotes are still in circulation.
These pattern coins were discovered a few years later in the late 1950s when some Government Savings Bank officers found two of them in some of the 1957 One Baht coin bags one of the two that were found is the coin in the image above. These two coins are auctioned. The most recent find for this coin was in 2016 in Ayutthaya, Thailand. The coin is in heavily circulated condition. Currently there are 3 pieces known.
