History
       In BE 2519(1976), the Ministry of Finance gave the initiative to the Treasury Department to produce additional new One Baht Coins. According to the Ministerial Regulation No.35 December 21st 1976, maintaining the size, weight, and composition. Designed to have a more beautiful pattern. The Treasury Department approved to use an image of the Suphannahong Royal Barge as the reverse design.

Obverse Reverse        Eur-Seree Collecting History           This One Baht coin is minted as a pattern coin. There was an idea to replace the One Baht banknotes to decrease the high cost that these notes were printed in the United Kingdom in addition to the shipping, which are often delayed. The idea didn't succeed because the One Baht banknotes are still in circulation.            These pattern coins were discovered a few years later in the late 1950s when some Government Savings Bank officers found two of them in some of the 1957 One Baht coin bags one of the two that were found is the coin in the image above. These two coins are auctioned. The most recent find for this coin was in 2016 in Ayutthaya, Thailand. The coin is in heavily circulated condition. Currently there are 3 pieces known. Thailand-One Baht Coin BE 2500(1957)-Bhumibol Adulyadej(Rama 9)

Obverse Reverse ngccoin.com History           The 1957 One Baht coin is a standard circulation coin minted in 1957.They were intended to decrease the cost for printing the One Baht banknotes in a foreign company(Thomas de la Rue), which quickly deteriorates. The metal prices in the world market began to decline and it was not necessary to use silver to certify a coin's value, so there were quite a lot of silver remaining. The government decided to compose 3% of the coin's weight with silver, making this the only circulating One Baht coin in king Bhumibol's reign to have silver content. These coins are released into circulation in January 28 1958 due to unstable politics.
